This dissection lesson was developed by Yvonne Tryce, Science Resource Teacher for the Los Altos Unified School District. In this lesson, students follow the path of blood through the heart.
Preparation
If hearts arrive frozen, they will need to be defrosted by leaving
them in the refrigerator for several days, or at room temperature overnight.
Tables should be covered with two layers of newspaper or butcher paper. Each
pair of students will need dissecting scissors and a thick handled blunt probe.
